We continue our Lenten series today called “Looking to Lent.” Each message will cover another difficulty that we face in life. Our message today is “Facing Adversity.” We reflect on the ways that we overcome the adversities that we face in life. Let us look for hope as we are looking to Lent.
Our scripture readings come from Genesis 15:1-12, 17-18; Philippians 3:17-4:1; and Luke 13:31-35.
“Speak to Life” is the next to last installment of Following God. If we are given a choice between living a life dedicated to what’s good or what’s not, how do we know which we are doing? Are our actions enough? Or do we have to feel it? How do we balance the personal with the social? Should we be cutting off limbs to avoid sin? We explore what it takes when we are following God.
Our scripture readings for today come from Deuteronomy 30:15-20 and Matthew 5:21-37.
“Facing Adversity” is the first sermon in the latest series Lessons from Job, which will last 4 weeks. Job had many things we can learn, so today we begin with the start of Job. What kind of book is Job? Who causes Job’s affliction? What do we learn from this initial encounter? Let us explore the lessons of Job together!
