This week we return to the “Word in Song.” This series is one that I come back to periodically and conect a song to Scripture. This week our message is “Shine” and comes from the song of the same name by Collective Soul. We take a look at the light of Christ shining in our lives as we reflect on the Transfiguration. We sing a song of the heart when we sing of the Gospel message.
Our scripture readings come from Exodus 24:12-18; 2 Peter 1:16-21; and Matthew 17:1-9.
This series is called “Word in Song.” Each week we will look at a song from pop-culture that we can link to scripture. Our message today is “Show Me The Way,” a song by Styx. Today’s message is all about how we can struggle to find our way and have difficulty keeping our faith. We sing a song of the heart when we sing of the Gospel message.
Our scripture readings come from Isaiah 26:1-9 and John 14:1-14.
Our song is “Show Me The Way” by Styx, performed by Pastor Cam.
We have a special service today for Good Friday. Come and join us as we hear the Passion story form the Gospel of John. We have the full service including music. We see the light extinguished leaving us in darkness. However, we still carry hope for resurrection, even in darkness.
We continue our Lenten series called “The Dark Valley.” The series looks at the way we deal with difficult times that test our faith. Our next message is “The Need to Know.” In it, we explore how we can get caught up in always needing to know more. Even in the darkest of times, God is till with us.
“With a Purpose” continues in the Following God series. We look again at serving selfishly versus selflessly. What kind of fast does God want? Prayer? Worship? How do we shine a light or be the salt? How do we do anything? We explore what it takes when we are following God.
We begin Following God with “Leave the Dark.” We often hear about walking in darkness and seeing a great light, but what do we mean? What is the darkness we leave behind? How do we deal with selfish desires? What about failure? We explore what it takes when we are following God.
