Our series for Lent is Promise of Lent. Each week we look at the promises we are reminded of in Lent. The message for today is “Promise and Patience” and is a reflection on having patience with promises. How does faith strengthen us in our patience? How do we reflect on the path to the cross during Lent? What is the promise that guides us? We follow Christ in the promise of Lent.
Our Advent series is Hope is Born. Each week we look at a different aspect of how we prepare ourselves for hope. The message for today is “Waiting” and is a look what it means to wait for hope. Is it hard to have hope? To have patience? In a year full of turmoil and waiting, how can we continue to wait? Where is our hope? We prepare our hearts to receive the hope that was born on Christmas Day.
Our series is Simple Thoughts. In it, we will be exploring a few of the simple thoughts I have had over these last few months. The fourth and last of these is “A Little Trust” and looks at what faith means. Is our faith just something that sits there? What does patience have to do with trust? What does it really mean to trust God and in God? These are some simple thoughts in complex times.
“Facing Adversity” is the first sermon in the latest series Lessons from Job, which will last 4 weeks. Job had many things we can learn, so today we begin with the start of Job. What kind of book is Job? Who causes Job’s affliction? What do we learn from this initial encounter? Let us explore the lessons of Job together!
This week in Turning to God, we talk about patience. “Waiting for God” looks at how we aren’t so different from the Israelites making a golden calf. What idols do we make in our lives? How does an on demand society change our relationship with God? When we turn from earthly desires, we find ourselves turning to God.
