This week we return to the “Word in Song.” This series is one that I come back to periodically and conect a song to Scripture. This week our message is “On the Turning Away” and comes from the song of the same name by Pink Floyd. We must face our own responsiblity as we look at not turning away from the problems of the world, but always turning to God to do good in this world. We sing a song of the heart when we sing of the Gospel message.

Our scripture readings come from Ezekiel 18:21-32; 1 John 3:13-18; Matthew 18:1-9.

This series is called “Word in Song.” Each week we will look at a song from pop-culture that we can link to scripture. Our message today is “Show Me The Way,” a song by Styx. Today’s message is all about how we can struggle to find our way and have difficulty keeping our faith. We sing a song of the heart when we sing of the Gospel message.

Our scripture readings come from Isaiah 26:1-9 and John 14:1-14.

“Singing Praises” looks at the role music plays in our life of faith. The command to sing is all throughout the Bible. Scripture has many songs woven in. We go and sing at church on Sunday, but what about the rest of the time? Do we sing God’s praises? Why is music so important? Why is music so powerful?

Our scripture reading comes from Isaiah 12:1-6.

“A Love Song” is this week’s entry in our Difficult Readings series. Why is the Song of Songs in the Bible? What is the point of a romantic, even erotic, poem? What can it tell us about God? About ourselves? About what it truly means to be human? Let us grow together as we explore these difficult readings!

Our scripture reading comes from Song of Songs 3:1-5; 4:10-16.
