A place for my thoughts and sermons.
Moving along in The Word in Song, we reach today’s message “Kyrie.” The inspiration is the song of the same name by Mister Mister. The Greek words used are a prayer put into song. How do we seek mercy? How do we show mercy? How do we pray? How often do we pray? Find inspiration anywhere and everywhere, and hear the Word in song!
Our scripture reading comes from Luke 6:32-36.
The musical inspiration comes from Mister Mister’s “Kyrie.”
The next installment of The Word in Song comes from the band Styx. “Show Me The Way” is the name of our message and is inspired by the song of the same name. Sometimes we can be disillusioned by the world. How do we handle this? Do we trust that Christ will lead us? How do we know the way? What does it mean that Christ is the way and the truth and the light? Find inspiration anywhere and everywhere, and hear the Word in song!
Our scripture reading comes from John 14:1-14.
The musical inspiration comes from Styx with “Show Me The Way.”
The next installment of The Word in Song is “Mother Freedom.” This message was inspired by the song of the same title by Bread. We look at freedom itself and what it means to us. How do we use our freedom? Do we take full advantage of it? Find inspiration anywhere and everywhere, and hear the Word in song!
Our scripture reading comes from John 8:31-38.
The musical inspiration comes from Bread’s “Mother Freedom.”
The first sermon from The Word in Song series is “Boys of Summer” and it comes from the song by Don Henley of the same name. We look at the idea of looking back. What does Jesus tell us about this? How often do we second guess ourselves? Find inspiration anywhere and everywhere, and hear the Word in song!
Our scripture reading comes from Luke 9:51-62.
The musical inspiration comes from Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer.”
