We continue our series called “Parting Thoughts.” This series marks the end of my time with the Greenup and Cottonwood United Methodist Churches. Each week I will share another parting thought before I start my new appointment. This week we have “Thoughts on Baptism” with a few thoughts about what baptism means.

We continue our Easter series called “Questions from Acts.” Each week our reading from Acts will inspire a new question to answer. Our next question in “Can Anyone Withhold?” To find an answer, we take a look at the early church to understand how we change because of the love of Christ.

There will be no new service next Sunday, I will be on vacation.
We begin a new series called “With the Holy Spirit.” In it, we will spend 4 weeks looking at the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Our first message is called “Baptized in the Spirit.” Today we reflect on the baptism of Jesus by John and the role of the Holy Spirit.
Our scripture readings come from Genesis 1:1-5; Acts 19:1-7; and Mark 1:4-11.

We continue our series called “New Year, New Outlook.” Our next message is “The Spirit Descends” and is on the Sunday celebrating the Baptism of the Lord. In it, we explore the meaning of baptism and the Holy Spirit in our lives. A new year calls for reflection on a new outlook.
Our scripture readings come from Acts 8:14-17; Luke 3:15-17,21-22.
Our Christmas series is Gifts of Christmas. Each week we look at a different gift we can give and receive. The message for today is “The Spirit” and is a look at how the Holy Spirit is a gift. What power do our words have? Why does the truth matter? How can we lift others up? What is the gift that we can give? Christ is the gift of Christmas that keeps on giving.
Our scripture reading for today comes from Mark 1:4-11.
